Mastercard 4811: Stale Transaction

A Mastercard dispute reason code, what it asks you to prove, and what Do The Proof puts in the response.

This code cannot be answered

Mastercard raises this dispute itself rather than a cardholder, and its own rules do not allow a response to it. There is nothing to send, so there is nothing for the app to submit for you. A dispute that arrives under this code is closed by the network, and that is what the app shows.

What this code means

Raised by Mastercard, not the cardholder, and only between a Europe acquirer and a non-Europe issuer. The guide defines it as a transaction presented more than 120 calendar days after the transaction date

What the network says wins it

Second presentments are not permitted

How the app handles it

Arrives in the app as: nothing. The sources do not record a label for this code, so a dispute carrying it arrives without one.

Where this comes from

Do The Proof drafts dispute responses for Shopify stores.

You pay when a dispute is won. Not before.
